This company is a long-established electrical equipment manufacturer based in Leicester, with over a century of engineering expertise. They specialise in the design and production of components used in power generation, transmission, and distribution, as well as in sectors such as industrial automation, marine, telecoms, and rail. Supplying major contractors, OEMs, and end users across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, they are known for delivering high-quality, reliable solutions. This role sits within their industrial resistor development team.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll focus on designing enclosures, sheet metal assemblies, and structural parts for electrical equipment. Using Autodesk Inventor, you'll create 3D models and drawings for manufacture, supported by FEA and mechanical calculations. This role is ideal for someone with strong Inventor/FEA skills and experience in machinery or equipment housing. You'll work closely with other teams to ensure designs are accurate, reliable, and meet quality standards.

THE ROLE

• Review design requirements and create documentation.
• Design 3D models and drawings for sheet metal parts.
• Perform mechanical design work and testing.
• Approve design work from other team members.
• Follow quality systems and document changes.
• Participate in research, development, and testing.
• Conduct technical investigations and corrective actions.
• Provide support to production and customer teams.
• Monday to Thursday: 8:15- 17:00, Friday 8:15 - 13:00

THE PERSON

• Mechanical Design Engineer or similar
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Creo or Siemens
• ISO 9001 design experience
• Degree or HNC in related subject
