W Talent Manufacturing is supporting a leading manufacturing company based in Leicestershire who are now looking to recruit a highly talented Production Manager to drive manufacturing and OTIF improvements across the site. My client is dedicated to delivering a high-quality service to customers worldwide and have recently gone through a strong growth period over the past 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be accountable for shift performance, including KPI deliverables covering safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Managing the Production department and safely achieving the plant operational targets within budget.
  • Developing and maintaining engaged production teams to ensure that people, processes, and plants are continuously improving and optimized.
  • Input to the Site Operational strategy to ensure optimisation of the people, plant, and processes.
  • Freedom to act within the role's responsibilities and budgets and set communication principles, as agreed with the Operations Manager.
  • Drive a culture of Health and Safety, ensuring that all accidents are adequately investigated.
  • Manage and enable all Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Instructions to be reviewed and updated as per the agreed review timescale, or when a change is required.
  • Develop and communicate the manufacturing plan to the team.
  • Define clear metrics for each manufacturing area and ensure that all Production Team Leaders drive improvement in those metrics through regular reviews and the agreement of key actions.
  • Create ownership within each production department with the goal of each area being self-managed (people management, planning, and continuous improvement) by the team leaders.
  • Drive standards on the shopfloor through regular review and target setting to achieve the objectives and results required.
  • Work with the Process Engineering Manager and the Quality and Development Manager to optimise formulations and support technical and aesthetic developments.
  • Empower, engage, manage, organise, and develop the department, Team leaders and their team members, in a safe working environment with optimal working conditions.

Key Requirements:

To apply for the Shift Production Manager position based in Leicester, you will ideally have 5+ years of managerial or supervisory experience with the ability and desire to work 6am - 2pm Monday to Friday. Other requirements include;

  • Strong leadership skills and focused on training & development of production employees.
  • Technical Competence and understanding of Production Machinery would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing industry and the pressures associated with high-volume manufacturing.
  • Excellent people manager with change management experience, ideally from a unionised environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including data analysis.
  • Capable of allowing and empowering teams to create their scope and direction.
  • Able to manage, direct, engage, and drive a diverse group often with conflicting interests to achieve a common goal.
