Multi-Trade Operative

  • Salary: £17.60 per hour
  • Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Multi-Trade Operative to join our team. This role involves carrying out a wide range of repair, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks across various trades in residential and/or commercial properties. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently or as part of a team to deliver high-quality workmanship.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • General Building & Carpentry: Repair or replace doors, linings, architraves, skirting boards, panels, and more. Work on stair treads, loft hatches, gates, and fencing.
  • Plastering & Tiling: Handle tasks such as plastering walls and ceilings, fixing plasterboard, and repairing or replacing tiles.
  • Flooring: Responsibilities include lifting and relaying slabs and replacing various floor coverings.
  • Plumbing & Drainage: Engage in the installation, repair, or replacement of baths, sinks, WCs, and associated pipework. Unblock pipes and repair leaks.
  • Electrical (if qualified): Remove or refix sockets, switches, install extractor fans, and more.
  • Other Duties: Board up windows/doors, treat fences/gates, and install safety and decorative fixtures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a multi-trade role with the ability to carry out a wide range of building maintenance tasks.
  • Good problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).
  • Desirable: Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds), electrical or plumbing certification, experience in social housing or public sector environments.
