We are seeking a dedicated Waste Management Advisor for our client to assist and advise customers on the proper disposal of waste materials at our Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS), while focusing on maximising recycling rates. This role is crucial in maintaining our commitment to environmental sustainability and community service.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist and guide customers in the recycling and disposal of waste materials, actively showing and helping rather than just directing.
  • Ensure that different types of waste are not mixed and are separated correctly to maintain high recycling purity.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and contamination levels of recyclates before they are sent to disposal points.
  • Maintain RHWS services in line with Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, including site operating and environmental licenses.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times.
  • Manage permit checks for vans and trailers, or for permitted waste types.
  • Adhere to maintenance schedules and ensure accurate data entry for requisitions and tonnage returns.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in waste management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to engage positively with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good physical condition, as the role involves manual handling and outdoor work.
  • Knowledge of environmental policies and legislation related to waste management.
