GPW Recruitment are working with a specialist manufacturer in Leigh, we are looking to recruit an Electronics Design and Lighting Engineer on a permanent basis paying up to £40,000 pa.

Working for this established, market leader, you will be involved in the design or upgrade of a range of products, initially working on LED light fittings to test and optimise designs and bring them into production.

A knowledge of LEDs for lighting applications and LED lighting optics would therefore be an advantage, or failing this, a willingness to learn about this technology. The light fittings include a microprocessor-controlled Switch Mode PSU, so a knowledge of programming embedded microcontrollers (including ARM and PIC) would also be useful.

The work will include hardware design, possibly some software design for embedded microcontrollers, testing and optimising LED luminaire optical design, product type testing and certification, the writing of product manuals, test procedures and other relevant design and production documentation. There may be an occasional requirement for site work at UK or international sites.

Key responsibilities:

  • Bringing a new range of LED light fittings into production
  • Hardware Design
  • Writing of product manuals, test procedures, production documentation.
  • Supervision of test and production personnel

Candidates should ideally hold a degree Electronic Engineering and have experience as follows:

•             Design experience

•             Electronic hardware design

•             Experience in the use of LEDs for lighting applications would be an advantage

•             Experience in the use of embedded microcontrollers, including ARM and PIC microcontrollers and the writing of firmware using C would be an advantage

•             Proficient in the use of pcb CAD software

•             Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal/external training customers
