Health & Safety Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a pivotal role in driving operational health and safety excellence for a Net-Zero megaproject. This leadership position requires you to establish, implement, and oversee robust health and safety procedures and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive guidance on compliance with statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements and company standards.

  • Respond to requests for advice from colleagues and external organizations.

  • Assist in conducting risk assessments related to Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to integrate Health, Safety, and Environmental considerations at all stages, identifying relevant control measures.

  • Conduct monitoring and audits of company activities, offices, and work locations.

  • Investigate incidents when necessary, and produce detailed reports identifying root causes and improvement recommendations.

  • Liaise with authorities and external agencies as required.

  • Establish a comprehensive training program for Health, Safety, and Environmental practices, fostering a safety culture among employees.

  • Raise awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental issues through toolbox talks and briefings, providing training as needed.

Skills & Experience:
Essential:

  • 3 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health and safety IT systems.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

  • Capability to analyze data and generate performance reports.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills adaptable to various audiences.

  • Confidence in communication with Senior Managers, Clients, and Site Personnel.

  • Ability to drive cultural change programs across a complex operation.

  • Familiarity with GDPR principles.

  • Flexibility with working hours due to the 24/7 business nature.

Desirable:

  • 3 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager role.

  • Proficiency in cloud-based SHE software systems.

Qualifications & Knowledge:
Essential:

  • Valid Driving Licence.

  • NEBOSH General Certificate.

  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH).

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Diploma.

  • Knowledge of the transport industry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Initial travel to Somerset for training.

  • All employees must undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and obtain a DBS certificate
