Technical Author (Silver Book/IR Manual)

Morson Talent are delighted to present an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Technical Author to join our client’s established Employee Affairs Unit (EAU). This will be a 6-9 months’ contract assignment - Inside IR35). All work is associated with construction of a major energy infrastructure Project at Sizewell C - part of the energy mix involved in driving the UK towards its net-zero targets.
Overview
- The role will support the EAU Operations Manager and the project Production Coordinator, as well as actively forging close liaison with all project teams who will be assembling contents, as required.
- The role will provide style guidance, advise on language, grammar, and syntax, and edit Silver Book (IR Manual) contents by working closely with the project teams compiling content, via a series of sprints to address specific themes/chapters.
Key Stakeholders and Relationships
The post holder will be required to support collaborative and proactive work with multiple stakeholders including but not limited to:
- External Stakeholders such as Trade Union Representatives
- Internal stakeholders/Project Teams associated with delivery of SZC Silver Book (IR Manual)
Typical Accountabilities:
- Assisting the EAU Operations Manager in the delivery of the SZC Silver Book contents
- Devising a system for sharing best practices and lessons learnt among content teams to allow for continuous improvement.
- Alerting the Production Coordinator of any project risks, issues, and opportunities
- Providing a style guide and other relevant guidance in written form or verbal instruction
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Educated to professional standard and membership of an appropriate body and to degree level or equivalent.
- Pro-active and able to thrive in a fast-past and dynamic environment.
- Comfortable with challenging assumptions and processes in order to constantly improve project outcomes
- Facilitation Skills
- Certification in Technical Writing or equivalent (e.g. certifications in Business Writing, Technical Writing, Certified Professional Technical Communicator, etc)
Desirable
- Demonstrable use of verbal communication skills within a business environment
- Experienced in working within a Major Programme environment preferred.
- Experience of providing editorial support in HR environments.
