Location: Leominster, Herefordshire.
Salary: up to £40,000.

Deputy Manager – About the role:

The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in ensuring high-quality care and safeguarding for children in a dual-registration home, maximising the life chances of Looked After Children. The role involves maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment In accordance with the values of Family Care Group,  where young people feel valued, listened to, and are encouraged to reach their full potential. The Deputy Manager will promote consistency and stability across the two homes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including Ofsted, to meet the Company’s commitment to safeguarding.

Responsibilities:

•  Support daily operations of two dual-registered homes, ensuring care, safety, and consistency in leadership.
•  Act as the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager.
•  Motivate and manage care teams to deliver high-quality, therapeutic care.
•  Oversee and contribute to individual care planning with the therapy team.
•  Maintain accurate and timely records and reports for children and homes.
•  Ensure compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and internal quality standards.
•  Provide supervision and training to staff; support recruitment and staff development.
•  Assist with budget oversight, resource allocation, and financial accountability.
•  Manage internal and external communications, including reporting to senior leadership.
•  Participate in the on-call rota, offering guidance during out-of-hours incidents.
•  Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring a safe environment.
•  Embed the therapeutic care model in daily practice; monitor its impact with the therapy team.
•  Support broader operational needs as directed, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
•  Ensure full compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.

What we need from you:

•  CQSW/DipSW or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or recognised equivalent  (Or willing to work towards)
•  1 years management of a team/teams
•  2 years in a children’s residential setting or in residential services

•  Excellent communication skills
•  Ability to lead, manage and motivate a team
•  Ability to write clear and accurate reports

•  Ability to work as part of a team
•  Knowledge of Children Act 1989 and associated Regulations and Guidance
•  Able to work with and understanding children who exhibit learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.
•  Full driving licence
