Tax Director Job Vacancy?

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director to lead tax strategy and compliance initiatives at an outstanding UK Top 50 firm of accountants at their Letchworth offices in Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s tax planning and ensuring compliance with evolving tax regulations. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to contribute to the strategic direction of a growing organisation.

You’ll be CTA or ATT qualified or perhaps qualified by extensive experience and you’ll have all the characteristics, skills and confidence of a natural and inspirational leader.

Your technical knowledge in most areas of tax will be second to none and you’ll instill trust and loyalty in clients and colleagues alike. Alongside these skills you’ll have great strategic vision and be able to work alongside other director level colleagues to influence and shape the direction of travel for the tax department.

Job Purpose

  • Managing a team of tax accountants at an established and growing firm of accountants.
  • Oversight of the strategic direction of the tax department, working alongside colleagues to ensure processes are in place to achieve the firm’s high level goals.
  • Working with Partners to manage a portfolio of corporate and personal clients in a wide variety of tax specific areas.
  • Reviewing and preparing corporation tax computations and workings.
  • Supporting advisory work with clients.
  • Advising on various tax due diligence exercises.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure clients are benefitting from all business services.
  • Providing training and development for colleagues and team members.
  • Representing the company at networking and business events, identifying new business opportunities.
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce and cross-sell company services to new and existing clients.
  • Setting an example as a hands-on leader.

The Successful Applicant

  • CTA qualified with further accountancy qualifications (STEP, ACA, ACCA, CA) being desirable.
  • Technically proficient, with tax advisory and planning experience.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills with good people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills.
  • Sound attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated and highly organised.
