Our team is growing here at Altro, and we are currently looking for aproactive and hard working individual to join us within our Value Added Services team. The role is based at our Head office in Letchworth Garden City and will be working on a rotating day shift (Monday to Friday, 6am till 2pm and then 2pm till 10pm the following week).

What will you be doing? As a Manufacturing Technician within Value Added Services, you will perform a variety of different tasks within the department with the aim of delivering excellent customer service, while proactively contributing to Altro's Zero Harm culture.




Job Opportunity

As a Manufacturing Technician within Value Added Services, you will perform a variety of different tasks within the department with the aim of delivering excellent customer service, while proactively contributing to Altro's Zero Harm culture.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Operate CNC cutting machines to process various materials.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and job specifications to set up the machine accordingly.
  • Load and unload materials onto the cutting bed, ensuring correct alignment and securing materials.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, blades, and settings based on material type and job requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to keep the machine in optimal condition.
  • Collaborate wider teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in cutting operations.
  • Monitor job progress and inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality.
  • Report any machine malfunctions, material shortages, or production delays to the supervisor.
  • Manufacture transit kits within agreed tolerance levels, in line with customer specifications.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure all cut pieces meet the required accuracy standards.
  • Label and package all transit kits in accordance with each customer's approved packaging specification.
  • Ensure all customer orders are completed and dispatched in line with required delivery dates.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Monitor stock levels of flooring material and liaise with the Transit Customer Service Leader when reordering is necessary.
  • Monitor stock levels of packaging consumables and inform the Transit Customer Service Leader as required.
  • Check the quality and condition of equipment used within the Kit Cutting area.

You will be a flexible team player with great customer focus - someone who takes a pride in producing first class product, first time. We operate with lean manufacturing techniques and will look for individuals who can add value by taking ownership of their role and making improvement suggestions. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment may be an advantage though, particularly in using CNC machinery.
