Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for an Executive Officer to join Sussex Police.

  • This will be a temporary assignment initially for 3-6 months

The role: To provide executive support to the Sussex Resilience Forum (SRF) in planning activities, being the subject matter expert on SRF plans, where appropriate, and partner work-streams in line with current priorities.

Through the Sussex Resilience Forum (SRF), organisations work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. The SRF is responsible for coordinating and testing emergency plans and procedures so that member organisations are prepared to meet their duties specified under the Civil Contingencies Act.

During an incident or emergency, members of the resilience forum work together to support the organisation/s that are leading the response.

  • Work with the SRF Executive Delivery Manager to set objectives aligned to National Resilience Standards for Local Resilience Forums (LRF) and other strategies, how these will be achieved, development of an implementation plan and work with SRF partners, Government departments and other agencies to deliver the plan through strong relationships, working collaboratively and coordinating effort.
  • Oversee the delivery of a robust SRF Governance system and support arrangements. Provide assurance that all requirements are being met and are continuously improved through self-assessment, organising peer reviews or other means of independent validation.
  • Support arrangements including (not limited to) continuity of meeting records, capturing of discussions, actions and decisions, document retention, security, distribution, control and collating and sharing of relevant data.
  • Work proactively with SRF partners by developing and recommending appropriate information architecture / recording standards to assist partners with sharing of documents and enabling easier access of information (including to members of the public) on Resilient Direct. Look for continuous improvement opportunities by linking in with Regional LRF's.
  • Take the lead in handling and managing information and correspondence sent to the SRF (via the SRF inbox), making decisions and using own judgement to action, prepare sensitive responses and resolve as necessary. Ensure timely briefing of the Executive and Delivery Group chairs and the SRF Executive Delivery Manager on any high risk or important issues

Essential Skills Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of supervision and management with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a multi-agency environment and coordinate work streams within the working groups.
  • Ability to produce concise, comprehensive reports including the ability to review and update plans.

Desirable Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of Cabinet Office Platform Resilience Direct.
  • Knowledge and understanding of multi- agency operations including Category 1, 2 and voluntary sector agencies.
  • Knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 with particular emphasis on emergency preparedness
