Formulation Chemist - Lancashire - FMCG


An established manufacturer in Lancashire is seeking a Development Chemist to lead the formulation and technical development of cosmetic, household, and pet care products. This is a hands-on R&D role focused on bringing innovative, compliant products to market.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test formulations to meet customer briefs, claims, and regulatory standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external clients from concept to first production.
  • Conduct and oversee testing (stability, preservation, claims), and maintain technical documentation.
  • Support product accreditations and regulatory submissions (e.g., COSMOS, Vegan).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams for scale-up and production troubleshooting.
  • Maintain formulation records, lab systems, and hygiene protocols.


What You'll Bring:

  • A degree in Chemistry (or similar scientific discipline).
  • Ideally 3 years' experience formulating cosmetic or personal care products.
  • Understanding of UK/EU/US cosmetic regulations and product safety documentation.
