Shift Mechanical Technician - Leyland Facility

Salary: Up to 45,772.89

Location: Leyland - PR26

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts, 5-shift system, 24/7 coverage

Hours: Average 37.8 hours per week

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Shift Mechanical Technician to join a dynamic team at a waste processing facility in Leyland. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical engineering background who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment.

You'll be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems, processing assets, and general site infrastructure. The role includes both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and infrastructure.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and support operational continuity.
  • Use centralised maintenance management systems effectively.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and support project delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety compliance.
  • Administer safe systems of work (PTW & LOTO).
  • Record and report asset performance and maintenance activities.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with CMMS software and IT systems.
  • Effective communication skills.

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications.
  • Experience in SCADA operations and documentation control.
  • Training in FLT, MEWP, confined space, and working at height.
