Plant fitter
I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a reputable and growing company within the heavy vehicle and plant machinery sector. They are currently seeking an experienced HGV Plant Fitter to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled technician to work with a variety of heavy vehicles and plant equipment in a well-equipped and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and plant machinery
- Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with operational standards
- Respond to breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs when required
- Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
- Work collaboratively with workshop colleagues to meet deadlines
- Manage parts and consumables efficiently
- Follow health and safety procedures and company policies
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the workshop
Requirements
- Previous experience as an HGV or plant fitter/technician
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Plant Engineering)
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
