The Role:

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will be a team player responsible for reconciling supplier statements, supporting the purchase ledger, and handling other ad hoc finance tasks.

To be considered for this role, you should have proven experience in reconciliation and purchase ledger work, and be comfortable working to strict deadlines. A keen eye for detail, flexibility, and a collaborative attitude are essential.

This position offers the chance to broaden your finance experience under the mentorship of an experienced line manager, with exposure to a wide range of finance responsibilities. It's a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their finance career. Financial support for further qualifications will be considered upon successful completion of the probationary period.

So, what will you be doing as an Accounts Assistant?

  • Assist with the purchase ledger and provide cover for the finance assistant
  • Support payment forecasting and assist with payment runs
  • Manage credit card and cash expenses using the Concur system; provide user support and training where needed
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Assist with month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and variance reporting
  • Provide cover for other finance department duties as needed
  • Support with the annual audit process
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably required by management

What are we looking for in our next Accounts Assistant?

  • Previous experience in a similar finance role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Fully AAT qualified (minimum)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as IFS
  • Experience with the Concur system ideal
