The Role:
So, what will you be doing as an Embedded Software Controls Engineer?
- Be the embedded controls expert within a multidisciplinary team.
- Design and develop control strategies for electrical power systems.
- Program and optimise embedded software on DSPs/microcontrollers (C/C++).
- Prototype and test your designs in real-world applications.
- Work closely with systems and electronic engineers to deliver robust solutions.
- Define and manage system interfaces and customer requirements.
- Support product qualification, verification, and compliance testing.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
- Champion reusability and design standardisation across projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.
What are we looking for in our next Embedded Software Controls Engineer?
- Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Software, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven track record of delivering embedded software/firmware, ideally within automotive, aerospace, nuclear, or defence sectors.
- Hands-on experience with DSPs and embedded C/C++ for microcontrollers.
- Strong understanding of embedded software within complex systems.
- Agile mindset with the ability to learn quickly and adapt.
- Comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Eligible to obtain UK SC security clearance.
- Experience with power systems and motor control.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion).
- Exposure to Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Jira).
- System testing and validation experience.
