A Staffordshire based food manufacturing company are looking to recruit a Facilities Engineer for their production facility in Lichfield to mainly support on the water treatment plant and supporting infrastructure and grounds.

This is an active role which involves manual handling, lone working, working at height, and much more. You'll be managing the operation of the plant to ensure that the site remains fully compliant. You'll have a good eye for detail as record keeping of daily testing is critical. Also, an understanding or experience of environment agency discharge consents would be a highly advantageous. 

Driving licence is also essential as you'll be required to operate a yard tractor on site - gritting grounds during adverse weather and manoeuvring trailers.

Role:

  • Multi skilled, ideally electrically biased (mech biased with good electrical will be considered)
  • Panama shift (rotating) – Days / Afternoons
    • Days: 05:30am - 16:00pm
    • Afternoons: 12:00pm - 22:30pm

Key responsibilities of Facilities Engineer

  • Complete regular checks of the plant and water systems – hourly / daily / weekly.
  • Checks on the cooling towers – sampling, replenishment of chemicals, using the correct escalation procedure in the event of failures etc.
  • General maintenance and DIY tasks.
  • Maintain site trailers to ensure they are always in a road worthy condition.
  • Complete all necessary PPM’s
  • Advise management of any problems affecting with the water treatment plant immediately to minimise operational downtime.

Experience and skills required of Facilities Engineer

  • Ideally, related qualifications around water treatment and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of a Water Treatment Plant, ideally in a food production environment.
  • Ability or confidence to operate a yard tractor and trailer unit.
  • Observation and recording skills - high level of attention to detail.
  • Legionella and Confined Space Awareness is highly desirable.
