GSL Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Child Development Graduate to join one of our schools in Lincoln. This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates with a strong background in child development to gain invaluable experience in education and make a positive impact on children’s learning and well-being.

As a Child Development Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and SEN specialists to support students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support children with diverse needs in the classroom, including 1:1 and small group work

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons that engage students and promote their academic and personal growth

  • Provide tailored support for children with SEND, helping them overcome challenges and build confidence

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued

  • Help monitor and track student progress, supporting interventions and assessments

  • Promote positive behaviour, encourage social interaction, and help students manage emotions

  • Assist in general classroom management and support teachers with everyday tasks

Essential Requirements:
  • Degree in Child Development or a related field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Sociology)

  • Passion for working with children and supporting their learning and emotional development

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A proactive, empathetic approach to working with children

  • Enthusiasm for working within a school environment and helping students overcome barriers to learning

  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable:
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or care setting

  • Knowledge of child development theories and practices

  • Familiarity with SEND and how to support children with additional learning needs

  • Understanding of child safeguarding practices
