Are you a Band 5 Nurse or Paramedic looking for an autonomous and impactful role where your skills truly make a difference?

The Opportunity:

As a Custody Healthcare Professional, you'll work autonomously, providing essential healthcare to detainees and police staff. This is a unique opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a challenging yet rewarding environment, utilising our company Patient Group Directives (PGDs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Assessments: Undertake comprehensive assessments to determine fitness for detention, interview, transfer, or release.
  • Minor Illness/Injury Management: Provide immediate care for minor ailments and injuries, escalating serious conditions as needed.
  • Forensic Examinations: Conduct forensic examinations, record injuries, and collect DNA evidence when appropriate.
  • Specimen Collection: Collect specimens in accordance with legislation.
  • Substance Misuse Assessments: Assess alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
  • Mental Health & Learning Disability Assessments: Conduct assessments where appropriate.
  • Documentation & Testimony: Maintain meticulous clinical records, provide written statements, and give oral testimony in court as required.
  • Support & Development: Contribute to the development of medical services and comply with all relevant competencies and legislation.

What We're Looking For (Essential):

  • Registered Nurse (General/Mental Health) or Paramedic
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Current NMC or HCPC Registration
  • Proficient in Venepuncture
  • Experience in A&E, ITU, EAU, SAU, Nurse Practitioner, or Practice Nurse settings (other nursing backgrounds considered for Nurses, front-line experience only for Paramedics)
  • Valid UK Driving License with access to a car for work purposes
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team

Desirable Skills (Training Provided):

  • ILS training
  • Safeguarding Level 3 (Adults & Children)
