Environmental Health Practitioner / Senior Food Safety Officer Location: Lincolnshire - Hybrid workingDuration: 3-4 monthsStart Date: ASAPRate: £45 Per hour - negotioable (Inside IR35, via umbrella) 

Venn Group are supporting the recruitment of an interim Environmental Health Practitioner/Senior Food Safety Officer to lead on food safety, health and safety, and public health enforcement work. The successful candidate will deliver statutory functions, inspections, and investigations in line with regulatory requirements and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:• Carry out inspections of food premises, manufacturing sites, distribution hubs, retail businesses, and vessels• Enforce legislation covering food hygiene, standards, public health, and health & safety• Recommend and implement enforcement action, including prosecutions, prohibition notices, seizures, and closure of premises• Investigate food safety complaints, outbreaks of communicable disease, and workplace health and safety incidents• Prepare prosecution files, witness statements, and provide evidence in court when required• Provide tailored advice to businesses on compliance, food safety, and good practice• Collect, record, and analyse samples, prepare reports, and take proportionate enforcement action• Represent the authority in dealings with external agencies such as FSA, APHA, UK Border Force, HSE, Public Health England, HMRC, and others

Key Requirements:• EHRB registered Environmental Health Officer, or holder of Higher Certificate in Food Control with significant experience• Demonstrated experience in food law, food hygiene, port health, and public health enforcement• Knowledge and application of health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks• Skilled in preparing and presenting legal evidence in line with PACE requirements• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to produce detailed reports and legal notices• Confident in conflict resolution and working with stakeholders in challenging circumstances• Ability to manage varied caseloads, prioritise work, and meet statutory deadlines• Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining statutory competencies• Flexible to meet service demands, including occasional evening or site-based work
