Play a key role in the implementation of effective HSE policies and procedures, lead Health & Safety initiatives, drive a proactive risk management, accident prevention approach and promote a positive H&S culture throughout the site.Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety
  • Ensure site compliance against legislative and Company HSE policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and review the implementation of documented risk assessments and method statements and monitor that required controls are implemented and maintained
  • Offer practical problem resolution to the leadership of the site to ensure a safe working environment for all site users
  • Assist in developing an effective Health and Safety leadership team on site, including an effective HSE Committee and Safety Representatives for site
  • Conduct health, safety and environment audits and inspections so as to ensure that the HSE management systems are effective and suitable - Report and advise on non-conformances, and implement corrective action plans to address improvement
  • Ensure that all accidents and near misses are investigated and that suitable preventative controls / actions are implemented
  • Manage the notification / reporting of RIDDOR accidents to the HSE and internal logging of incidents onto Gensuite
  • Develop and maintain the site emergency team, selection and maintenance of fire wardens and first aid support for the site
  • Drive safety awareness through regular interaction, such as toolbox talks, safety programmes and engagements
  • Maintain and report relevant Key Performance Indicators on the performance of the health and safety management system and environment management
Conformance statistics;
  • Attend report back sessions with the HSE Manager as well as Head of Health and Safety for the company on a regular basis.
  • Drive continuous improvement, in all aspects on site including that of the HSE Management System, facilities improvements and all other safety, health and environmental aspects
Environmental
  • Support site leadership to ensure environmental processes conform to UK legislative requirements
  • Coordinate with site management to drive waste reduction and resource conservation efforts
General Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive HSE culture and drive change throughout the company
  • Drive a "can do" attitude through problem resolution
  • Collate and analyse performance
  • Undertake any reasonable management requests
Knowledge & Experience: Person Specification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of an HSE role within a Manufacturing organisation
  • comprehensive understanding of UK HSE legislative requirements
  • The ability to work flexibly within the requirements of the business
  • Team player with sound interpersonal skills/cross departmental skills

Education / Qualifications
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Minimum)
  • NVQ Level 5 H&S standard or NEBOSH Diploma (Preferred)
  • Registered with a professional body (IOSH)
  • Good standard of written and numerical literacy
  • Good standard skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
