About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with their educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support, helping students to improve their academic skills and comprehension. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and providing feedback on student progress.
Key Responsibilities of Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)
- Collaborate with teachers: Create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
- Offer individual and small group interventions: Help students improve their academic skills using evidence-based strategies to support their reading, writing, and comprehension abilities.
- Teach and reinforce effective study techniques: Help students understand and engage with their studies, encouraging positive interactions and modeling appropriate behavior.
- Support classroom teachers: Implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Assist teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
- Maintain detailed records: Track students’ progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s development.
- Collaborate with professionals: Ensure students receive comprehensive support by working with counselors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
Requirements of Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- A genuine passion for supporting students in their educational journey.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
