Responsibilities:
As a Laser Operator, you will:

  • Set up and operate Fibre and NDYAG 5 Axis lasers to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to manufacturing specification.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety procedures.
  • Document and report production data, including quantities, dimensions, and any deviations from specifications.

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Hold a recognized full level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ level 3 or Technical certificate in a relevant engineering field.
  • Proven experience as a Laser Operator in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating laser cutting machinery (ideally Heidenhain for Fibre and NDYAG 5 Axis Lasers).
  • Experience of working with Nickel alloy materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance skills
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
While not mandatory, the following would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Knowledge of CAD software
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications
  • Experience with CNC machinery
