Are you an experience Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant seeking to learn from the best? If so, this is the role for you! You would be needed to manage critical financial processes whilst supporting the accounting and wider teams. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial activities.
Day-to-day of the role:- Manage the BACS and CHAPS payment processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Support Accounts Clerks by overseeing the correct processing and coding of invoices and credit notes on the system.
- Assist the Financial Accountant in the year-end statutory reporting process, including the preparation of financial statements for audit and submission to Companies House.
- Complete ONS data and produce ad-hoc reports as required.
- Ensure all accounts activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare VAT submissions for review by the Financial Accountant.
- Handle the monthly submissions for the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
- Review fuel card submissions and coordinate with the Financial Accountant for monthly deductions.
- Assist in month-end journal preparations and maintain the company's fixed asset register.
- Maintain supplier master data and manage financial aspects of investment properties.
- Proven experience in financial management or as a Finance Assistant.
- Strong understanding of payment processes like BACS and CHAPS as well as CiS (desirable not essential).
- Familiarity with statutory reporting and VAT preparation.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team - getting sleeves rolled up and helping where needed.
- Strong analytical skills, especially using Excel.
