Job Title: Construction Manager
Location: Liverpool
Rate: £55–£60 per hour (Ltd due to SME status of company) 
Hours: 50 hours per week
Duration: 18 months 

Role Overview Reporting to the Projects Group Director, the Construction Manager will take full responsibility for overseeing the construction phase of a major project based in Liverpool. The role involves managing site teams, subcontractors, and key partners to ensure construction and commissioning activities are delivered safely, responsibly, on time, and within budget.

You will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, maintaining high construction standards, and ensuring client and business objectives are fully met. The position also requires collaboration across multi-discipline project teams and daily engagement with clients during the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control all construction-related activities for the project
  • Lead and coordinate the on-site construction team, interfacing with Project Managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Ensure all construction activities are delivered in accordance with project procedures and industry standards, with a strong focus on safety and environmental responsibility
  • Deliver construction activities to agreed schedules and budgets, maintaining and continuously improving quality standards
  • Identify, assess, and actively manage construction risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies
  • Produce, maintain, and report against construction plans, WBS, and schedules
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior management and the client
  • Contribute to proposals and project planning activities where required
     

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience managing construction on Top Tier COMAH or other regulated process plant projects, including greenfield and brownfield modifications
  • Background in Oil & Gas, Energy, or Renewables sectors
  • Strong experience managing site construction teams and coordinating with multi-discipline project functions
  • Experience with inspection, testing, and mechanical completion systems
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and/or approve construction management plans and construction schedules
  • Fully conversant with CDM 2015 Regulations, including experience performing duties of Principal Contractor, Principal Designer, and Client
  • Good understanding of Temporary Works requirements and regulations
  • Ability to prepare and/or review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
     

Desirable / Beneficial

  • Formal safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting or leading commissioning activities
  • LOLER and lifting experience, including Appointed Person duties
