About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Rolling Stock Engineer / Technician for a contract position within a leading rail organisation based in Liverpool. This is a key role supporting ongoing work across both rolling stock and infrastructure interfaces on the Merseyrail network, working closely with both SRS and Network Rail depots.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide engineering and technical support across rolling stock and infrastructure interfaces.

Apply knowledge of modern rolling stock systems, particularly in relation to infrastructure integration.

Assess and support systems such as points systems, track circuits, flange lubricators, and sanding systems.

Work flexibly across day and night shifts as operationally required, though primarily Monday to Friday, daytime.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Prepare clear and concise technical reports and documentation.

Support the wider Merseyrail Fleet team on an ad hoc basis when required.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Qualified Engineer or Technician, ideally with a background in modern rolling stock engineering.

Strong understanding of Network Rail infrastructure interfaces.

Demonstrable knowledge of track-side systems including:

Points systems

Track circuits

Flange lubricators

Rolling stock sanding systems

Flexible approach to work with availability for both day and night shifts.

Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.

Ability to integrate quickly into existing teams and support operational objectives.

Contract Details:

Duration: Initial 3 months with potential for 3-month extension or longer

Status: Outside IR35

Location: On-site in Liverpool (Merseyrail and associated depots)
