The Role - What You'll Be DoingAs a Teaching Assistant, you'll be an essential part of the classroom, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment. Your role will involve:
Supporting Teaching & Learning- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons that cater to different learning styles
- Working one-on-one or in small groups to provide additional support for students who need it
- Helping students to understand instructions, complete tasks, and stay on track
- Encouraging active participation and supporting children with their learning goals
- Providing targeted support for students with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
- Helping students to build confidence, independence, and social skills
- Using differentiated learning strategies to ensure all students are included and supported
- Assisting with personal care when required, ensuring the dignity and comfort of students with additional needs
- Supporting the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a calm, structured environment
- Using positive behaviour management techniques to encourage good behaviour and engagement
- Helping to set up and tidy the classroom, ensuring a safe and organised learning space
- Supervising students during breaks, lunchtimes, and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Acting as a role model for students, promoting respect, kindness, and resilience
- Establishing trusting relationships with pupils, helping them feel supported and valued
- Communicating effectively with teachers, parents, and school staff to share progress and concerns
You don't need formal qualifications to be a great Teaching Assistant-what matters is your enthusiasm, patience, and commitment to supporting children. However, the following qualities and experience would be beneficial: ? Experience working with children in a school, nursery, tutoring, or care setting (preferred but not essential)? A positive, patient, and adaptable approach to learning support? Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with teachers and students? An understanding of child development and behaviour management techniques? Ability to work independently while following the teacher's guidance? A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)? A genuine passion for education and supporting young learners
