As the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager you will be responsible for the effective management of all the Food and Beverage operations supporting the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure you deliver a world class food offering and service, as well as being responsible for the profitability of Food and Beverage areas.

Serving Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meals throughout the Pullman Restaurant and Lounge Bar, connectivity lounge, in room dining and exclusive conference and event facilities.

The core purpose of your role will be to create a customer focused and sales driven team. To motivate, coach and guide the team to deliver positive customer service with a genuine enthusiastic and outgoing personality, this in return delivers maximum sales and profit.

You will be expected to ensure that all shifts are operated according to our high company standards.

With a real passion for Food and Beverage and the highest quality of service you will be hands-on operationally, getting stuck into all aspects of the business.

Main responsibilities

The ideal candidate will come from a food and beverage background with an understanding of Meeting and Events. As the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager with Pullman Liverpool will be expected to take ownership for the following tasks:

  • Alongside the Food and Beverage Manager you will be in charge of the departments profit and loss accounts, budget and forecasts.
  • Work closely with the Hotels HR to develop, adopt and deliver recruitment and retention initiatives to ensure Pullman Liverpool attracts and retains the best talent within the industry.
  • Identify training needs and implement training plans to ensure the teams work to a consistently high standard, meeting all guest needs.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve business goals and quality service standards.
  • Create a safe and clean environment, for all team members.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to drive food quality and service standards profitability, throughout the Lounge Bar, Restaurant and also Conference Event Functions.
  • Manage and develop business strategies to ensure they influence results aimed at achieving the business objectives.
  • Drive for results and compete against a standard of excellence by striving for constant improvement and pursue hard-line goals.
  • Be an inspirational leader with first class communication, and organisational skills.
  • Equipped with a commitment of delivering an exceptional guest experience and living through our brand standards.

Core Competencies

Essential to successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills and values that include:

  • Minimum of two years experience within management position within a 4* Hotel or Fast Paced Restaurant.
  • Willing to work weekends, bank holidays, shift work (late finishes and early starts)
  • Previous experience managing Conferencing and Events
  • Knowledge of Fourth Hospitality or a similar hospitality programme.
  • Demonstrable high standards of service, along with impeccable presentation.
  • Excellent time keeping and punctuality
  • Experienced people manager who is able to lead and inspire the team.
  • Previous experience of managing a team of 20+ employees.
  • Ability to demonstrate influential leadership combining effective communication, motivation and interpersonal skills.

A strong knowledge of food and beverage is essential.

The ability to impact an influence to promote ideas persuasively and overcome resilience.

Desirable It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Knowledge or qualification in Health and Safety
  • BIIAB Personal Licence Holder
  • Level 3 Food Safety
  • Fire Marshall Training
  • Hotel Duty Manager experience, training will be given.
  • Liquor Stock and Ordering Process'
  • Previous experience managing staff rotas for large teams (20+ employees), with the ability to balance operational requirements and employee preferences effectively

The successful candidate will be able to lead by example and always from the front, displaying excellent customer service skills and team management!
