Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for a BSL Tutor in Sefton to deliver 1:1 tuition to a pupil with a hearing impairment. This is a highly rewarding, part-time role where you can make a meaningful difference to a childs education and confidence.

The successful tutor will need to be fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) and able to use it confidently as part of their teaching and communication.

Role Details:

Location: Sefton (local travel may be required)

Hours: Starting at approx. 6 hours per week, with potential to increase as the pupil progresses

Pay: GBP30 per hour (depending on experience)

Contract: Ongoing, part-time, flexible

Subjects: Core subjects (Maths & English) and general support through BSL

Start date: ASAP

Requirements:

Fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) essential

Experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments

Teaching/tutoring experience preferred (school-based or 1:1)

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service essential (must already hold)

Fully referenceable covering the last 2 years

Patient, empathetic, and caring approach with vulnerable children

Ability to adapt lessons and communication methods to meet the childs individual needs

Further Information:

This is a fantastic opportunity to support a pupil with a hearing impairment in a 1:1 setting. Tuition will start with 6 hours per week, with the potential to increase as the childs progress and confidence grows.

You will be expected to deliver tailored learning plans that engage the pupil, supporting both their academic development and overall confidence.
