Randstad is proud to be partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Skilled Craftsman for the Heat Treat Department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a site undergoing a major transformation, as Ford invests £355 million into producing cutting-edge electric power units. Halewood will be Ford's first European plant to manufacture EV components, with production launching in 2024 and an expected capacity of 420,000 units annually.

What You'll Bring:
  • Completion of a Mechanical Level 4 Apprenticeship
  • Preferably, experience in a heat treat production environment, particularly working with high-temperature carburising furnaces
What You'll Be Doing:

As part of the Production Planned Maintenance Team, you'll play a critical role in keeping our equipment running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You'll be primarily assigned to the Heat Treatment department with a mechanical focus, supporting emergency, predictive, and preventive maintenance activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and executing preventive maintenance on machines and associated systems (mechanical, electrical, PLC, refrigeration)
  • Analysing data from maintenance actions to anticipate parts replacements or overhauls
  • Overhauling machine parts to reduce replacement costs
  • Identifying and implementing machine performance improvements and OEE optimisations
  • Root cause analysis and implementation of long-term fixes for breakdowns
  • Supporting 5 Whys analysis, continuous improvement projects, and Kaizen initiatives
  • Contributing to safety, environmental, and cost-reduction improvements
  • Stepping into the analyst role when required
