Sefton are seeking a Children's Occupational Therapist who has experience working with children and in social care. You will be working closely with Social Workers and Family Support Workers. You will also work closely with the Sensory Team, Education, Housing and the NHS to ensure that assessment and recommendations are robust and fully meet the needs of our residents.The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension.

Main Duties for the Children's Occupational Therapist includes.

  • Moving and handling assessment and advice: Including provision of hoists/slings and risk assessments addressing specific needs of the child in their home environment.
  • Equipment provision: Assessment of specialist equipment including beds, shower/bath seats, specialist seating, toileting - assisting daily activities
  • Minor adaptations: Assessment of need for provision of door widening/grab rails/ramps and safety measures
  • Home adaptations: Assessment of potential need for adaptations through the national Disabled Facility Grant. Adaptations may include through floor lifts, ceiling track hoists, level access showers, facilitating wheelchair access throughout a property.
  • Housing needs assessments: Assessments to support a social housing application for a property, identifying specific access needs of a child to be considered when being rehoused.
  • Attending child in need and safeguarding meetings of allocated children, and close working with Social Workers and the MDT.

To be Successful

  • Previous experience working as an Children's Occupational Therapist in the community.
  • Experienced OT with experience in assessing and providing major adaptions such as ramps and stairlifts and manual handling equipment.
  • Previous experience working with major adaptations.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Occupational Therapist Qualification.
