Science Teacher (Physics & Chemistry Specialist)
Liverpool | £130–£220 per day | Full-Time 

TeacherActive are looking for a passionate and resilient Science Teacher with specialism in Physics and Chemistry to join a secondary alternative provision in Liverpool. This forward-thinking school provides education for students who have experienced barriers to learning, including those who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. The staff team are committed to delivering a fresh start and creating a supportive, structured environment where every young person has the chance to re-engage with learning.

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Physics and Chemistry, tailored to the needs of small groups.

• Differentiate learning to support students of mixed ability, often working below age-related expectations.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and resilience.

• Manage challenging behaviour effectively, using de-escalation strategies and consistency.

• Work closely with a dedicated staff team to provide holistic support for students’ academic and personal development.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) with a specialism in Physics and Chemistry.

• Experience working with challenging behaviour – essential.

• Previous experience supporting students who have been permanently excluded (desirable).

• A resilient, calm and flexible approach, with strong behaviour management skills.

• The ability to inspire young people and encourage a positive attitude to learning.

• Competitive daily rate: £130–£220 per day (depending on experience).
