Are you an experienced Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? TeacherActive is looking for a dedicated and resilient professional to join a specialist secondary provision in Liverpool.

This forward-thinking school caters for pupils with complex needs, including SEMH and behavioural challenges. The Role:

As a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.

  • Help create and maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.

  • Implement behaviour strategies in line with school policies and individual learning plans.

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to support pupils’ academic and emotional development.

  • Model resilience, patience, and consistency in all interactions.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and challenging behaviours.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach.

  • Experience using a trauma-informed approach (desirable).

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.

  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
