Child Protection Social Worker

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Child Protection Social Worker to join our team in Liverpool, supporting vulnerable children and families across the city. You'll be part of a committed safeguarding team, working in partnership with local agencies to make a lasting impact on children's lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake child protection investigations and comprehensive risk assessments

  • Develop and review Child Protection, Child in Need, and Looked After Children plans

  • Hold and manage a varied caseload in line with Liverpool City Council's safeguarding procedures

  • Carry out statutory visits, direct work with children, and engage with families to promote safety and positive outcomes

  • Contribute to case conferences, strategy meetings, and court proceedings

  • Produce high-quality, evidence-based reports and maintain accurate case records

  • Collaborate with education, health, housing, and police services in a multi-agency context

  • Follow local policies in line with legislation including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and continuous development initiatives

Key Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

  • Experience in statutory child protection and safeguarding work

  • Sound knowledge of child development, risk assessment, and relevant legislation

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work flexibly and manage complex caseloads effectively

  • Commitment to Liverpool's child-centred, strengths-based approach

  • Enhanced DBS check

  • Full UK driving licence (desirable)
