Shifts: 06:00 - 13:00 or 12:00 - 19:00, Monday to Friday (rotational) with an occasional requirement to work a Saturday morning shift (o/t)
A major operator within the transport sector is looking to make an addition to their Planning Team and are looking for a Container Transport Planner to join their team in Garston.
This is a permanent position with a 35-hour work week, an excellent benefits package and future opportunity for growth and promotion throughout the Group Business.
Core Accountability:
* Maintain accurate records of container movements and documentation
* Plan, schedule, and coordinate container transport operations to ensure timely inbound and outbound deliveries
* Monitor transport schedules and provide effective response to operational changes or delays
* Liaise with drivers, clients, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
* Handle administrative tasks, including reporting, data entry, and communication with stakeholders
* Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce operational issues and provide effective, cost-efficient solutions
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
* Provide support to the wider team during peak periods or operational challenges
Skills and Experience:
* Knowledge of Transport Legislation
* Excellent geographical awareness
* Commercially astute
* Container transport planning experience or experience in a similar logistics role
* Strong administrative, organisational, and time-management skills
* Self-reliant, proactive, and able to make decisions under pressure
* Excellent communicator and calm under pressure
* Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
* Comfortable working with transport scheduling software and Microsoft Office
