Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor

Production Engineering Section

A permanent vacancy has arisen within our clients Production Engineering Section for a Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor.

The successful candidates main focus will be to provide expert environmental and technical advice to ensure that our clients site complies with all applicable environmental regulations and to lead, drive and support business operating improvements to achieve their multiple objectives in the drive to Net Zero. Identify key areas for business improvements to reduce business carbon footprint and reduce overheads. Liaise with stakeholders, raising business cases to support upgrade/replacement of plant equipment and services.

Salary- Up to £53,000 (Dependant on experience)

Hours of work:

7am 4pm (Monday Thursday ) - 7am - 12 Fridays.



The main duties of the post involve;

Ensuring all aspects of Environmental, Safety and Quality are documented and embedded into our processes.

Liaising with Environmental Associations and regulatory agencies to identify changes in Environmental Legislation that will affect air conditioning design and manufacture.

Liaise with select companies to support common understanding and implementation of EU/UK directives.

Feedback and provide technical expertise in the understanding and interpretation of relevant directives to the business.

Assist operations management in maintaining compliances with environmental related matters and investigate issues.

Work as a member of the Engineering team to advise and highlight any issues that may affect product design and process design.

Conduct environmental investigations and waste acceptance programs.

Co-ordinates site inspections.

Provides compliance support, direction, plans and reports.

Responsible for techniques for handling hazardous materials, chemicals and toxins in view of existing standards.

Support team with ISO14001 & other relevant Standards

Manage energy saving opportunity scheme (ESOS) and SECR

Investigating ways for the company to benefit from government initiatives-grants etc

Obtaining and maintaining plans, permits and standard operating procedures (effluent discharge permits, emissions etc.)

Supporting the company on Net Zero journey

Interpreting data Water, waste, energy consumption and refrigerant gas quotas

Point of contact for MACE energy supply broker

Preferred key skills, knowledge and experience;

Preferably 5 years+ of environment or compliance experience

Degree in Manufacturing / Mechanical / Electrical/ Chemical/ Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

Some experience in a manufacturing environment

Project management experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and effective meetings skills

Working knowledge of ISO14001with auditing experience
