Location: Based in Dumfries & Galloway | Projects across Cumbria & the Central Belt

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £29,000 - £40,000| Paid overtime | Paid travel & accommodation when working away
Start time: 7:00am

Talent Media is proud to partner with our client to recruit a Trainee Civil Engineering Operative / Skilled Labourer to join their award-winning construction and civil engineering team.

About the Role

Whether youre just starting or have some site experience, this role offers a clear path into the civil engineering trade. Youll work as part of an experienced site team, gaining hands-on experience in groundworks, drainage, kerbing, ducting, landscaping and more.

Youll also have access to formal training, including SVQ qualifications and plant tickets for dumper, excavator, and roller.

Typical duties may include:

  • Assisting with drainage, ducting, concrete, kerbing, and foundations
  • General site labouring, set-up and clean-up
  • Supporting plant operators and skilled tradespeople
  • Handling tools, materials, and site equipment
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised work area
  • Travelling and staying away (Monday to Friday) when needed with all travel, accommodation, and allowances fully covered

Who Were Looking For

This role would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is looking for a long-term career in construction. Youll be dependable, willing to learn, and enjoy being part of a team.

Youll need to be:

  • Due to regulations, you must be 18 years old or older
  • Comfortable with active, hands-on tasks in an outdoor working environment
  • In possession of a full UK driving licence and your transport
  • Able to travel to Lockerbie for a 7:00 am start when required
  • Willing to work away from home during the week, when needed
  • Positive, respectful, and reliable
  • Motivated to learn and progress in a skilled trade
