An excellent opportunity has arisen for a part-qualified accountant to join a well-established finance team as an Assistant Financial Accountant. The role focuses primarily on accounts payable, receivable, fixed asset accounting, and property-related revenue and expense management.
You will play a key role in ensuring timely supplier payments, accurate financial reporting, and supporting the wider finance team in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. This position also offers opportunities to get involved in internal projects and process improvement initiatives.

Essential Experience: Previous experience within accounting, banking or auditing fields, preferably in the financial services sector
Key Responsibility
- Support the Financial Controller in reconciling financial records, posting journals, and reviewing bank reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly financial accounting to ensure accurate and timely month-end close.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial control processes, including coordination with business units on financial plans.
- Process invoices and manage Accounts Payable tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Reconcile monthly AP/AR balance sheets.
- Work with the property services team to manage reporting and reconciliation for rental properties.
- Manage monthly payment runs and ensure supplier payments are made on time.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Participate in ad hoc financial projects and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal risk management, IT security, and data protection policies.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), actively studying toward full qualification.
- Previous experience in accounting, auditing, or finance - ideally within financial services or a similar sector.
- Strong time management skills and ability to handle high volumes of invoices and expense claims.
- Sound understanding of reconciliation principles, accruals, and prepayments.
- Working knowledge of SAGE and exposure to VAT principles.
- Advanced IT proficiency, especially in Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Collaborative team player, comfortable working in a small and flat-structured environment.
