Robertson Bell is working with a well-regarded local authority-backed housing provider to recruit a Senior Finance Officer on a permanent basis. This role sits within a collaborative finance team and provides essential support to ensure the smooth running of the Accounts Payable function.

The Role – Key Responsibilities:
  • Processing high volumes of invoices (100–200 per week)

  • Performing supplier account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies

  • Assisting with bank payments, including manual payments when required

  • Dealing with internal and external queries from suppliers and departments

  • Maintaining oversight of AP processes and ensuring deadlines are met

  • Providing day-to-day support and guidance to the Accounts Payable team

  • Delegating tasks effectively across the team and monitoring workflow

  • Supporting training and onboarding of new or junior team members

  • Ensuring timely processing of payroll-related tasks, including claim forms

  • Supporting finance-related checks and reports for payroll

  • Assisting with upcoming systems transitions and process improvements

Person Specification:
  • 2–3 years’ experience in accounts payable, ideally in a complex, manual environment

  • Comfortable with legacy finance systems (e.g. Integra) or willing to learn new platforms

  • Strong understanding of AP processes including invoicing, reconciliations, and query resolution

  • Confident managing deadlines and balancing a varied workload

  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges

  • Resilient under pressure and able to support colleagues with guidance when needed

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
