We're passionate about preserving these unique creatures and are committed to welcoming like-minded individuals who share our dedication.We are now looking for a Finance Officer to join us on a full-time basis for an eight month fixed-term contract. There is flexibility to work 4-5 days a week (30-37.5 hours a week), excluding one hour for lunch. Hours can be worked flexibly using our Flexi Time policy (core hours being 9.30am-midday and 2.30pm-4.30pm). Your work will help strengthen the systems that underpin our mission to protect these remarkable creatures and the habitats they depend on.Plus, with flexible working, ongoing training opportunities, and the chance to develop your career in the charity sector, you’ll benefit from a supportive environment where your skills are valued and your growth is encouraged.The Role As a Finance Officer, you will support our financial health across our key finance functions, maintaining financial records and transactions and smooth day-to-day finance operations.From managing accounts payable and receivable to processing payments, journals, and reconciliations, your role will cover all aspects of finance, ensuring strong financial governance and best practice.You will support budgeting and reporting, contribute to year-end accounts preparation, and play an important role in ensuring internal controls and compliance are upheld. Additionally, you will:- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency- Respond to queries and ensure excellent financial stewardship- Support payroll processing- Manage debtor processes- Maintain accurate HMRC records- Process accruals, prepayments, and depreciation- Assist with cash flow monitoring and reporting- Support the preparation of annual audit documentationAbout YouTo be considered as a Finance Officer, you will need:- Proven experience in a finance or bookkeeping role- Experience of financial management and budgeting- Knowledge of budgeting practices, including full cost recovery - A good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping - Proficiency with financial management software (currently Sage 50) and Microsoft Suite, especially Excel- To be a part-qualified accountant or have good knowledge of charity bookkeepingDeadline for applications: 9am, 26th September 2025Interviews (via Zoom): w/c 13th October 2025Other organisations may call this role Accounts Officer, Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper, Part-Qualified Accountant, Accounts Junior, Charity Accountant, Charity Finance Officer, or Charity Accounts Officer.
