Are you a systems-savvy accountant with a passion for process improvement and automation? Our client, a leading international exam board and education charity, is looking for a dynamic Systems Accountant to join our Finance team in Central London.

About the Role

As our new Systems Accountant, you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming our finance systems and processes. Working closely with the Finance Systems & Change Manager, you’ll drive automation, streamline data flows, and ensure our finance teams are making the most of our key systems — including SUN.

This role is ideal for a proactive individual who enjoys solving problems, implementing best practices, and providing hands-on support to end users.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Improvement & Automation
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in current financial processes.

  • Lead on finance system improvements and automation initiatives.

  • Collaborate with IT and key stakeholders to implement new tools and integrations.

  • Optimise financial data flows for better reporting and compliance.

First-Line Systems Support
  • Act as the first point of contact for all finance systems queries.

  • Troubleshoot and escalate technical issues as needed.

  • Maintain user access and enforce Segregation of Duties (SoD).

  • Provide training and guidance to finance users on best practices.

  • Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

System Optimisation & Change Management
  • Continuously review and refine finance system usage.

  • Support the rollout of system upgrades and change initiatives.

  • Develop and document robust audit trails and system controls.

  • Ensure systems meet compliance, audit, and business requirements.

What We’re Looking For
  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

  • Strong knowledge of finance systems — experience with SUN is highly desirable.

  • Proven experience in process improvement, automation, or system implementation.

  • Confident communicator with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Able to train and support users at all levels.
