IT consulting business based in central London is seeking to hire a financial controller to bring the finance and accounting in house.

To be considered, you must have current or previous experience in the consulting sector.

Main responsibilities

  • Preparation of the month end management reporting and board pack, ensuring figures abide by FRS102, are timely and accurate
  • Calculation and review of KPIs monthly, monitoring and reviewing these for relevance and reporting
  • Calculation and posting of revenue recognition and work in progress, and comparison against budgets and forecasts
  • Preparation of profit and loss analysis
  • Review and creation of the overhead budget, including presentation of monthly figures and insight into variances
  • Preparation of working capital analysis and performance charts
  • Conduct improvement cycles with key stakeholders, including financial advice on risk, profiling clients, forecast invoicing and working capital analysis
  • Enhancing internal financial controls
  • Efficiently manage cash flow and working capital to optimise liquidity
  • Year end statutory reporting and liaising with external auditors
  • Provide insight to the external quality ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits
  • Review of and providing insight into corporation tax, R&D claims, VAT and other taxes relating to the business
  • Completion and review of payment practice reporting, as well as implementing new processes and internal controls for supplier management
  • Manage, prepare and present annual budget and forecast to operating board for approval ensuring strategic aims and objectives of the business are met with stress tests
  • Create balanced scorecard for the business incorporating the KPIs and wider non-financial KPIs to review the health and performance of the business monthly

  • Consulting sector experience essential
  • Keen to step up to an FD position in the medium term
  • Bright and articulate, able to work effectively across functions
  • High attention to detail and strong technical accounting skills
