Reed Finance is partnering with an established construction firm in their search for a Financial Controller to join their senior team.

This position involves overseeing all accounting and finance operations, managing accounting-related activities and staff, whilst supporting and working closely with senior management to enhance financial control and improve business processes.

This role will require a fully qualified Accountant with some significant post qualified experience who has demonstrated managerial & mentoring skills.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage, support, and train accounting staff, ensuring effective team performance.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, WIP reports, cash flow and income reports, and project P&Ls.
  • Ensure all accounting records are kept accurately and comply with standards and legislation.
  • Collaborate with senior management to enhance company processes, ensuring the integrity of accounts and effective financial strategy.
  • Oversee the month-end process, including account reconciliations.
  • Manage quarterly VAT returns and oversee payroll, including PAYE, CIS, and pension payments.
  • Deal with VAT queries and provide guidance on sales, purchases, and subcontractor invoicing.
  • Work closely with business managers on valuations, invoicing, and contract enquiries.
  • Manage outstanding debtors and maintain relationships while chasing payments.
  • Take responsibility for finance systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified Accountant with either CIMA, ACCA or ACA or equivalent, with significant post qualified experience
  • Ideally experience working within the construction, engineering or property development sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Sage.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and proven track record of management skills.
  • Dynamic personality with a strong work ethic, suited to a fast-paced environment.
