This growing Multi Academy Trust are seeking a capable and diligent Financial Controller with a genuine commitment to their values and mission. This pivotal role involves overseeing the efficient and effective operational management of the finance function and business partnering with schools. You will ensure financial stability, regulatory compliance, and sound financial practices across the Trust.

Key deliverables:
  • Collaborate with the CFO, Head Teachers, and Academy Business Managers to develop and manage annual and 3-year budgets, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s strategic objectives.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, to support informed decision-making.
  • Utilise key performance indicators (KPIs) to benefit school and Trust performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement plans.
  • Monitor and report on the Trust’s cash flow.
  • Own and manage the timetable of financial activity across the year.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal control procedures.
  • Lead in coordinating and managing external audit processes and develop effective internal audit procedures with the CFO.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (any recognised body) or experience in a comparable role.
  • Clear experience of business partnering, financial management, accounting, and financial control.
  • Proficiency with financial software and systems, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing improvements in operation or finance functions.
