Eames are partnering with a leading energy company based in the City of London to hire a Group Technical Accountant.
Our client, a leader within the renewable energy space, has exciting plans for growth over the coming years. The Group Technical Accountant will take ownership of technical accounting policy, reporting compliance, and implementation of evolving IFRS standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for fair value accounting under IFRS 9, managing the group accounting policy manual, and leading the technical interpretation and rollout of new accounting standards and regulations.
Key Tasks / Responsibilities:
- Lead on interpretation and implementation of new regulatory and reporting standards and amendments.
- Provide post-implementation support and training to Finance colleagues and business contacts.
- Assess and recommend suitable accounting treatments for new business transactions, ensuring alignment with the most current IFRS standards.
- Lead on preparation of technical accounting policy papers.
- Work closely with group Finance teams to provide support with IFRS-based technical accounting.
- Facilitate the preparation of the Group and Company's annual statutory accounts in compliance with IFRS and Companies House legislation.
- Work closely with the business to ensure that changes in accounting policies are implemented properly and accurately reflected in the monthly management accounts.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive group accounting policies manual.
- Act as the accounting lead with the external audit team.
Person Requirements:
- Qualified ACA (or equivalent) from top 10 audit/advisory practice with at least 5 years PQE.
- Prior experience in the energy and utilities sector or in a trading environment.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS 9 accounting for derivatives and own-use exemption.
- Expertise in the valuation of complex financial instruments under IFRS 13.
