Head of Transactional Services

Our growing client in the private healthcare and hospital industry are looking for a new Head of Transactional Services to join their team in North London. This is a newly created role following a restructure in the transactional finance team, reporting into the Group Financial Controller.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Credit Control and Sales Ledger teams, fostering a high-performance culture with clear accountability.
  • Oversee the complete billing lifecycle, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing to funders, commissioners, and private clients.
  • Design and implement effective credit control strategies and procedures to maximise cash collection and reduce bad debt exposure.
  • Monitor aged debt reports, proactively addressing issues and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations, contractual requirements, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to resolve billing queries and improve end-to-end processes.
  • Deliver regular, insightful reporting on debt status, cash flow, and key performance indicators to senior leadership.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to drive efficiency in transactional finance operations.
  • Support internal and external audits, maintaining strong internal controls and documentation.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of team members, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

The ideal candidate will be an experience Transactional Finance Manager/ Head of Transactional Finance, with experience in overseeing a larger team and supporting and improving sales ledger and credit control processes. Industry experience in healthcare or medical is desirable but not a requirement. Experience with process improvement and automation will be needed to ensure effective billing, debt management, and team leadership.
