Director - Private Client Tax & Trusts - Law Firm

Location: Central London (Hybrid)Firm Type: Boutique, Partner-Led Law Firm

A highly regarded, boutique law firm based in the heart of the West End is looking to appoint a Director-level Private Client Tax & Trusts specialist to join its Private Client department. This is a senior, strategic hire - not about filling a gap, but about bringing tax advisory work back in-house and building something meaningful.

The Opportunity

You'll be working directly with the Head of Private Client Tax - a well-respected name in the sector - leading on complex advice for a high-net-worth client base, often involving trust and estate matters. The work is advisory-led, high-value, and varied.

The role offers genuine autonomy, visibility, and a chance to take full ownership of the firm's trusts and estate tax work, much of which is currently outsourced. If you've ever wanted to run your own show within a safe and established structure, this is that role.

There is an oportunity to make Partner here in a short space of time.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Advising on UK trusts, estates, and associated tax matters

  • Preparing and reviewing trust and estate accounts

  • Handling IHT, CGT, and residency/domicile issues

  • Working closely with clients, beneficiaries, and solicitors on often sensitive, multi-faceted cases

  • Contributing to business development - if that's your thing

  • Helping shape the direction of the tax function going forward

What They're Looking For
  • Substantial experience in private client tax, trusts, and estates

  • Ideally CTA and/or STEP qualified - but solid experience matters more

  • A confident, commercially aware advisor who can hit the ground running

  • Someone who's comfortable working in a lean, senior-level team, without hand-holding

  • Experience with offshore trusts would be a bonus, but not a dealbreaker

The Firm
  • Around 60 staff, 10 partners, and all under one roof

  • Located near Bond Street / Marylebone

  • Close-knit, non-hierarchical culture - professional, but relaxed

  • Strong departments across Private Client, Litigation, Employment, Property, and Commercial

  • Currently moving to a limited company structure (April 2025) - exciting growth phase

Salary & Flexibility
  • Competitive six-figure salary depending on experience

  • Discretionary bonus

  • Hybrid working - typically three days in the office, but flexible

  • Face-to-face interview process preferred (they believe in hiring the right people, not just CVs)
