One of my top clients are seeking a Treasury & Indirect Tax Officer to join a close-knit, supportive and collaborative team where the reason for the role is due to internal promotion. This is a varied role and the great thing about this is that they are not expecting someone to have experience of everything on the job description, but to have to desire to learn and develop the additional skills whilst using some of your current expertise!

The purpose of the role is to support the filing of global VAT returns, liaise with external auditors and governing bodies to manage compliance, and work with the Treasury team to manage global cashflow and banking requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of this Treasury and Indirect Tax Officer role:

  • Support the Senior Compliance and Indirect Tax Officer with various duties including invoice sampling for multi-national offices, Ireland VIES filing, VAT year-end reconciliations, VAT to trial balance reconciliations, and non-applicable VAT review.
  • Work closely with the Treasury Team to support reporting of intercompany lending/interest calculations and intercompany billing across various entities.
  • Process cash collection journals monthly and handle Benefit in Kind weekly filing and review.
  • Review Interpractice and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare VAT returns ensuring compliance with local and overseas VAT regulations and requirements.
  • Arrange UK VAT payments on account.
  • Liaise with auditors, HMRC, and other governing bodies.
  • Help manage cash balances and report these figures.
  • Provide assistance to the Treasury Manager with ad hoc tasks.

To be successful in this Treasury & Indirect Tax Officer role you will ideally have -

  • Minimum of 2 years previous accounting experience or experience in a Treasury role.
  • Experience with a Practice Management system is preferable but not essential.
  • Proven audit and technical skills or understanding of audit processes.
  • Experience in preparing and filing VAT returns.
  • Good Excel skills.
