VAT Advisory Manager - London (Hybrid, 2 Days in the Office)

A top 20 UK chartered accountancy firm is seeking an experienced VAT Advisory Manager to join their growing Indirect Tax team. This is a career-enhancing opportunity focused primarily on VAT advisory work, with only two days a week required in the London office.

The VAT team is led by a Partner and includes a Manager, a Senior and a Trainee. The department provides specialist VAT advice across a wide range of sectors and complex matters, including property transactions, charities, e-commerce, and international services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert VAT advice on issues such as property transactions, charity VAT treatment, place of supply, and digital/e-commerce taxation.

  • Draft instructions to Tax Counsel on technical matters, structuring, and disputes.

  • Manage complex VAT cases, including those progressing to ADR or tribunal stage.

  • Undertake VAT reviews, due diligence assignments, and technical analysis.

  • Respond to VAT queries from clients and internal teams.

  • Contribute to technical content creation, including articles, webinars, and seminars.

  • Support the development and supervision of junior VAT staff.

  • Collaborate with the Partner on litigation matters and business development initiatives.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years' UK VAT experience in an accountancy practice environment.

  • Demonstrable experience advising clients and dealing with HMRC.

  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to manage complex VAT matters confidently.
