Project Architect - Contract Role (London & Surrey)

Start Date: ASAP (Candidates on notice will be considered)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Architect to join our client, a major construction company to support them with the architectural design of multidisciplinary projects across London and Surrey. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of works including rail, transportation, urban redevelopment, energy, residential and commercial projects. They have had an influx of projects in rail, aviation and energy to candidates with experience in these areas are ideal.

Projects are based in London, Surrey, Midland's regions.

This is a freelance role paying 40-45ph (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle - from concept to delivery.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of assistants.
  • Develop and sustain strong client relationships.
  • Deliver design solutions aligned with client briefs and site context
  • Produce high-quality design deliverables and presentations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and specialist consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations and project budgets.

Ideal candidates will have / be:

  • ARB registered (RIBA Part 3 desirable) with proven experience on complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience across varied sectors, ideally including education, transportation, commercial, and public buildings.
  • Skilled in design software: Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Enscape/V-Ray.
  • Ability to translate concepts into detailed designs and deliver projects to completion.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Passionate about design excellence and collaborative working.
